In February in an article titled, “Make school parent group’s theft a learning experience,” I wrote about how the former treasurer at Ward Traditional Academy’s Parent Organization had embezzled funds.
I noted how our legal system focuses too much on retribution against offenders much like the Queen of Hearts in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland whose solution to every predicament is “off with her head!”
Instead I suggested that the Ward community focus on repairing the harm to victims. Unfortunately, what transpired instead may be financially convenient but asks far too little of the perpetrator, Shauna Caryl. Read the rest of this entry »
