Taxes can be a vexing subject, and Dick Foreman certainly sounds vexed! (”Tempe taxpayers taxed,” April 20).
My goodness, his mother and daughter may soon be forced to moved in with him due to the city raising their property taxes by what he claims was $300 annually for his daughter and an unknown amount for his mother. As much as we love family members, I can see how that could be vexing!
I hate to disappoint you Dick, but if your daughter and mom move in, it won’t be due to city property taxes. Your math’s wrong, but you’re right the city should be more vigilant about how its tax policies impact lower income households. Read the rest of this entry »
